Famous Villages

We are blessed with being in the center of a ring of famous, beautiful and picturesque villages. We'll mention five all of which are less than an hour away. They are very definitely worth seeing, but in the summer at the height of the season they do get crowded with tourists.

(Note: The pictures are links to each town's website. Enjoy them!)

Belcastel. Medieval village on river. Fabulous restaurant, Michelin starred! One of our favorites, but parking is difficult in summer.

Conques. This time perched on a hill. Very beautiful and less over run by tourist shops than most. Better parking.

Cordes. Truly spectacular perched on its own hill. Very well worth braving the climb and the summer crowds to visit. Excellent musical festival in the summer.

Rocamadour. Very famous, very crowded and very touristy. Still worth seeing, particularly if you can do it out of season.

St Cirq- Lapopie. Another favorite, we love the view down to the river lot. Also has, we think, some better quality shops & nice places to eat. Parking not bad most of the time.
